When should I start preparing for my college application

s?

We recommend that you start SAT/ACT preparation during 11th grade, receive your target score in the summer before 12th grade, and formally begin the college application process at the beginning of your senior year.

What’s my responsibility?

Our staff will guide students through the application process. We expect you to be fully engaged, work with your coach proactively, and complete your assigned tasks on time so your application can be completed successfully.

What if I didn’t get accepted to any schools?

We help students select dream, target, and safe schools. There are very few cases of students not being admitted to any school, especially if they cooperate with their coach. However, if the student has not been admitted due to special circumstances, we will evaluate the potential cause(s) and help the student complete the appropriate appeal procedures.

What is the difference between you and other education centers?

We are based in Orange County, CA and have served many students from diverse backgrounds, including new immigrants, US-born, international, and Chinese students. Hence, we understand the differences for these various applicants and provide students with guidance to effectively meet their unique needs and goals. In order to acquire the most up-to-date, first-hand college admission information, we also proactively attend college admission conferences every year. Therefore, we are confident that the information and instructions we deliver to students are reliable and helpful.

Is the application essay the hardest and most important part of the college application?

We help students select dream, target, and safe schools. There are very few cases of students not being admitted to any school, especially if they cooperate with their coach. However, if the student has not been admitted due to special circumstances, we will evaluate the potential cause(s) and help the student complete the appropriate appeal procedures.

What if my scores are insufficient for my dream major?

College admission officers always review students’ profiles comprehensively and evaluate students based on their standardized test scores, GPA, and extracurricular activities. We recommend that students strengthen two of those factors if one factor is insufficient. Another strategy is for students to apply to a relatively less competitive major first, and then change their major upon entering the university.

Successful Stories

Feng

We met Feng before the end of her junior year. With a GPA of 3.7 and an SAT score of 1270, Feng and her parents were very worried. When it came to extracurriculars, Feng had only participated in a few ordinary volunteer activities.

While communicating with Feng, we learned that she was a big fan of the arts, enjoyed visiting art museums, and shared a strong interest in traditional Chinese art with her father.

However, it was still too late for Feng to prepare an art portfolio as she lacked professional art training. Therefore, we switched her major to focus on theoretical art study, such as Art History, to help her accomplish her educational goals.

In order to balance out her insufficient test scores, we determined that it was best to focus on strengthening her extracurricular background to build her ‘major spike.’   With guidance from our team, Feng was able to complete several outstanding art-related extracurricular activities, namely art museum volunteering and leadership activities, independent research on the Chinese Yuan and Song Dynasties, as well as enroll in a few advanced art history courses at local community colleges.

In a short amount of time, Feng had successfully built her major spike and eventually got admitted to UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, UC Davis, Purdue, and other top schools.

Fan

Fan came to the U.S. from China in 9th grade, worked hard at his U.S. high school for two years, and earned a competitive 4.1 GPA by 11th grade.

He had a strong interest in Chemistry and was determined to apply for ‘TOP 30’ schools as a Chemistry major; however, he didn’t realize the importance of extracurricular activities until he met our team. After a comprehensive evaluation, we found that Fan’s background was not competitive enough to apply for STEM majors among the TOP 30 schools.

First off, without a solid understanding of the U.S. education system, Fan didn’t register for his academic courses wisely, causing him to be unable to take higher level courses or even fulfill his high school graduation requirements.

Second, Fan only focused on his academics and rarely participated in any meaningful afterschool activities.

Therefore, after quickly identifying the shortcomings and gaps in his background, we provided Fan with effective guidance to select his high school courses wisely in order to meet his graduation requirements and become qualified to take higher level courses.

In terms of his extracurricular activities, Fan gradually built his major spike by conducting independent Chemistry research, joining a university research lab, and gaining experience in developing Chemistry devices.

With the help of our team, as well as Fan’s hard work and dedication, he finally overcame his setbacks and was eventually accepted to UC Berkeley and other TOP 30 schools.
